A submission for the mineral photography contest at :iconrockhounds:.

A pyrite vein in host rock, found at the Edgar Mine in Idaho Springs, Colorado (an educational mine belonging to the Colorado School of Mines). I spent a week mapping the mine during the summer of '02, and this was one of the many specimens I wound up taking out of there.

The pyrite vein is about .5 cm in height.

I got this AWESOME Barite a few days back o_o seriously kewl. I want to take photos, but I dunno if the camera will work that close up :\
10.2megapixels...we'll see soon enough ^^

10.2 megapixels will DEFINITELY cut it, so long as your camera has a fine focus capability. If you'd like, I can give you a quick tutorial on what I do, if that might help. ;)
